Elevating Environmental Surveillance: Air Emission Monitoring – Power Plant – Indonesia Power Bali

Project Date: 2022
Location: Indonesia Power Bali
In Collaboration with: PT Alfa Pegasus

Indonesia Power Bali, in a pivotal collaboration with MUSA Green and in conjunction with Alfa Pegasus, embarked on a groundbreaking project to implement an advanced Data Acquisition System (DAS) powered by SCADA WinTr. This system was designed to cater to the specific needs of CEMS Indonesia Bali, with a primary focus on environmental monitoring and regulatory compliance. The project aimed to seamlessly integrate data from DAS into the Environmental Information System (DIS) provided by our third parties, aligning perfectly with the stringent regulations of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) and their SISPEK (Continuous Industrial Emission Monitoring System) framework, thus ensuring the highest standards of environmental protection.

Problem & Challenge

Prior to the implementation of the DAS, Indonesia Power Bali faced several challenges in effectively monitoring and managing environmental data. The existing manual data collection methods were labor-intensive, prone to errors, and lacked real-time capabilities. Ensuring compliance with KLHK regulations was also a daunting task, requiring a streamlined and automated solution. The need for remote access to the DAS for calibration and configuration further added to the complexity.

Solution

The core objective of this project was to establish a robust and highly efficient Data Acquisition System (DAS) capable of monitoring seven vital air quality parameters: Opacity, SO2 (Sulfur Dioxide), O2 (Oxygen), CO (Carbon Monoxide), CO2 (Carbon Dioxide), Particulate Matter, and NOx (Nitrogen Oxides). These parameters play a crucial role in assessing environmental quality and ensuring adherence to stringent regulatory standards.

The DAS was equipped with specialized analyzers and sensors provided by PT Alfa Pegasus to accurately collect and transmit data in real-time. All collected data was stored in a secure database, ensuring data integrity and accessibility.

Benefit & Impact

The successful implementation of the Data Acquisition System (DAS) and its harmonious integration with SCADA WinTr, complemented by third party’s Environmental Information System (DIS), ushered in a multitude of benefits and profound impacts:

  • Heightened Data Accuracy: The automated DAS guaranteed precision in data collection, mitigating the potential for errors inherent in manual methods.
  • Real-time Oversight: With instantaneous data access and remote calibration capabilities, Indonesia Power Bali was empowered to proactively tackle environmental concerns and optimize system performance.
  • Regulatory Adherence: The integrated system streamlined adherence KLHK regulations specifically the SISPEK (Continuous Industrial Emission Monitoring System or CEMS), to ensuring unwavering conformity to environmental standards.
  • Efficient Reporting: The bespoke dashboard empowered clients to access pertinent insights and analyses, facilitating informed decision-making pertaining to waste management.
  • Timely Notifications: The automated notification system bolstered responsiveness, enabling prompt action in the face of environmental anomalies.
