Understanding the National Registry System (SRN) and Its Role in Carbon Trading

MUSA Green is proud to announce that we participated in the SRN socialization event held by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK) in January 2024 in Jakarta. This event was crucial in helping us understand the regulations and best practices required for effective carbon trading and environmental management.

According to OJK Regulation No. 14 of 2023 concerning Carbon Trading through the Carbon Exchange (POJK Carbon Exchange), several important points must be noted. One of them is that Carbon Units traded through the Carbon Exchange must first be registered in the National Registry System for Climate Change Control (SRN-PPI) and the Carbon Exchange Operator.

What is the National Registry System?

The National Registry System (SRN) is designed to document and report the mobilization of support and climate change control actions, following measurable data elements. Managed by the Directorate General of Climate Change Control (DJPPI) under the supervision of the Ministry of Environment and Forestry (KLHK), this system serves as a monitoring tool to track the progress of emission reduction commitments made by the Indonesian Government.

Understanding the importance of this system, MUSA Green has taken proactive steps to align our operations with these standards, ensuring our carbon trading activities are compliant and contribute positively to climate change mitigation efforts.

Registration Mechanism in SRN

The National Registry System provides open access to the public as part of data accountability and transparency principles. The public can monitor the achievement of GHG emission reduction targets, both from central and regional governments. Users can also compare climate actions by sector and emissions by province, enhancing understanding of environmental conditions in Indonesia.

The registration process involves several steps:
