Title: Transforming Flood Detection in Sentul, Bogor: A Digital Initiative by BPBD Bogor

In collaboration with BPBD Bogor, we are embarking on a significant project to address the recurring issue of flooding in Sentul, Bogor. Our mission is to introduce a digital flood detection system that leverages cutting-edge technology for proactive monitoring. To achieve this, we have installed eight CCTV cameras at strategic points along the Sentul riverbanks. These cameras continuously capture real-time footage, which is then processed in a cloud infrastructure via the internet.

This project holds immense potential in transforming flood management in the Sentul region, bringing about timely interventions, informed decision-making, and, ultimately, safeguarding lives and property.

Problem & Challenge

The geographical area of Sentul, Bogor, grapples with an ongoing predicament that demands immediate attention: the persistent menace of flooding. This challenge not only places lives and property at risk but also disrupts the daily routines of the local populace. In response to this pressing concern, BPBD Bogor sought a solution that could effectively detect and monitor flood conditions, providing vital time for preventive actions and responses.

Solution

In response to the pressing issue of flood detection, our collaborative effort with BPBD Bogor brings forth a groundbreaking solution. We have embarked on the installation of a comprehensive flood detection system that relies on the power of modern technology. Here are the key components of this project:

  • CCTV Installation: Eight strategically placed CCTV cameras have been installed across the Sentul region along the riverbanks. These cameras serve as the eyes of the system, continuously monitoring the area.
  • Cloud Infrastructure: A robust cloud infrastructure has been established, seamlessly connecting with the CCTV cameras via the internet. This cloud infrastructure not only stores the video data but also facilitates the crucial image processing.
  • Image Processing Software: Cutting-edge image processing software has been integrated into the system. This software is instrumental in analyzing the CCTV footage, allowing for the real-time detection of flood conditions.
  • Web Dashboard: To ensure the remote monitoring of flood conditions, a user-friendly web dashboard has been developed. This dashboard provides up-to-date information on water levels at various river locations.
